In “L Catterton's Early Bet on Pet Trend Pays Off Big,” WSJ Pro Private Equity highlights that premium pet products are proving to be one of the fastest-growing offerings in grocery-store aisles in recent years.

The article overviews that independent stores and specialty pet retailers used to be the predominant distributors for the past decade, but that has since changed as mass and online relaters are entering the space.

EY-Parthenon Managing Director and Co-head of Private Equity Andres Saenz weighed in: “Pet has been a very attractive space for everybody. It's a large space and it has an above-average growth profile, largely because of humanization of pets.”
